Electromagnetic lifters for construction sites and demolitions – SaMoTer 2026

Operating conditions on construction and demolition sites are inherently variable: scrap with irregular geometries, unstable loads, and often unpredictable situations.

Construction site safety: the role of load handling

In the construction sector, material handling is one of the main sources of risk.

 

According to Eurostat (European statistics on accidents at work, latest data available at EU level), the construction sector accounts for approximately 20–25% of fatal workplace accidents in Europe.
The most frequent causes include:

 

• falling materials from height;
• loss of load control during handling (e.g. power interruption);
• presence of operators in pick-up and release areas.

 

During these phases, the risk is not only related to the weight of the material, but to the need for direct interaction between the operator and the load. Reducing or eliminating this interaction is one of the most effective measures to address operational risk.

 

Hydraulic electromagnetic lifters: load management without manual intervention

Hydraulic electromagnetic lifters allow the gripping and releasing of material without manual hooking systems. This concretely changes the operational dynamics:

 

• the load is managed directly by the machine;
• the hooking phase with chains or accessories is eliminated;
• the presence of ground-level operators during the most critical phases is reduced;
• the work cycle becomes more predictable.

 

From a technical standpoint, the use of hydraulic systems also allows operation without dedicated wiring or electrical power supplies, by utilizing the machine’s oil circuit.
